The American Heritage® Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs lists and defines thousands of phrasal verbs, such as look up as used in the sentence “She looked up the word in the dictionary.” Extremely useful to both learners of English as a second language and native speakers of English, this completely new reference work draws on the authority of The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition, while incorporating new material for thorough, up-to-date coverage of phrasal verbs. Rocket Language Spanish – Is It Good?

The Rocket Language Courses have sold over 300,000 products over the years and is one of the world’s biggest leaders in downloadable language software and programs. Rocket Spanish is only one of many language learning programs offered by Rocket Languages and remains one of their best sellers. If there are many people buying a program does it mean it works? Can Rocket Spanish live up to the claims of teaching you Spanish like at rocket speeds?

As a person who has tried other language learning software such as Rosetta Stone or Fluenz, I can honestly offer a comparison of the Rocket Language Spanish program with other courses that claim to teach fast Spanish.

Here is what I’ve found. In general, the Rocket Language Spanish program is extremely comprehensive. It is full of information you will need in order to speak Spanish primarily in Mexico and Latin America. If you are looking for a course that teaches formal Spanish or Spanish as it’s spoken in Spain than this program isn’t for you. Although, it’s focus is on informal or conversational Spanish among friends and family they do teach you to differeniate verbs to show respect when speaking to strangers – an important distinction to make.

There is audio lessons that are interactive. It will have you talking in Spanish very quickly because that format is very conversational and has you repeating and responding to a conversation. The audio lessons offer many chances for repetition and practice. The best part of the audio lessons are the fact they come on mp3 formats so you can put them on your ipod or mp3 player and play them anywhere. As I have found out, you can’t do this with all programs. There is also written content to supplement the interactive lessons that help you learn how the language is written and helpful hints along the way that help you understand what really matters when speaking Spanish in the real world. In my opinion, I enjoy the fact that this program is plain practical. The focus is on teaching you how to communicate confidently with people in Spanish.

Lastly, I must mention the software that comes with the program. This software allows you to play games and build your vocabulary very quickly. There is enough different components to this course that helps every type of learner. The only problem in my opinion is how Rocket Spanish is organized and laid out. For example if you would like to listen to the audio and read along at the same time then you are searching for different information from all the material. Perhaps, some people might like this because it makes the program extremely flexible. You choose how you want to learn the material. I personally, like something that has a progression of sorts. Rocket Spanish does however, have many options and opportunities to learn Spanish with different types of formats and at your own pace. I’m sure most people would find that this is a huge feature of this program.

If cost is a factor for you, I would suggest you check out Rocket Spanish and give it a serious look. The downloadable version is identical to the cd’s and will save you a ton of money on shipping and packaging. It costs less than other programs which give it quite the edge in Spanish learning programs out there. Not to mention you don’t have to wait around for the mail to arrive to start learning Spanish. Based on all that you receive in this program it’s an excellent value for the money.
